I live in Minnesota, so the periodic trips to the ACDSee offices offer an opportunity to try new cuisine. Victoria, BC offers a huge variety to choose from & I look forward to future trips.

It’s impossible to get fresh seafood where I live – it’s all frozen. The Blue Crab Restaurant in my hotel offered up a great menu & I chose the dungeness crab. When the server brought my plate I looked at it & thought it was quite beautiful, but..  He said, ‘Enjoy your lobster’. I offered to keep it, but in checking, he said the waitress had made a mistake, so the kitchen started over. It took me two hours to enjoy this crab, but when you’re by yourself, you can be as messy as you want! (so I really didn’t use all the hardware that was provided below)

For lunch one day, we went to a Korean restaurant & I had a soup dish. It had tripe in it & I’ve decided that I can do without that. But unlike the crab, I couldn’t eat that with the spoon & chopsticks. (I had to ask for a fork & knife). Sue suggested a shoveling method, but… I think I need more practice.

One evening we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant & the food was SO good! There were no chips & salsa. to start the meal (you know from the ad… chips & salsa are free… dinner is extra!). And the food was authentic rather than what we’re used to having here in the Midwest that’s called  ‘Mexican’ food. So I tried the mole’ sauce & enjoyed that new experience very much!

On my next visit I will try sushi. Sue knows what to order, so I look forward to giving it a try.

The photo below probably needs to be clicked on to appreciate the lighted parliament building. It’s beautiful how they light it at night. parliament bldg
