* Blogging from the Minneapolis airport *
I think airports & social media spaces are very similar. Lots of people moving thru hubs. Sometimes you have a conversation & other times not – all depending on a number of variables.
I like to fly & try to get a handle on an airport’s mass transit system. I’m learning Seattle’s but in my anticipation, I got on the train & people said I could’ve went upstairs. Ok, so I like the ride? But there were 3 people on there that were also not sure where to go, so I took them all back to where I got on. I helped a young man that had just arrived from Japan read the departure board & sent him with the other two back on the train. It’s so easy to lend a helping hand. I always appreciate when people help me. And that goes to follow in the social media space too. I had another person from Singapore add me as a friend today in Facebook & I look forward to learning about Web Strategy from that side of the world. Maybe some day I’ll be in Singapore or Japan pondering their airport?
On the flight from Seattle to Minneapolis the lady next to me asked what I do. It was ironic because I had just posted on a question on that topic in the Web Strategy group in Facebook. How do you explain what you do? In my case it’s easy. I was taking out my laptop anyway & showed her ACDSee’s products & how we use them for digital scrapbooking. Then she asked the person traveling with her to come sit in our row so she could see the demo too. (Note to self: I NEED to get business cards.) But, she wrote down my email address & is excited about a new hobby for winter. (Because of the demo, I didn’t get my blog post written.) Isn’t Word of Mouth great?! And she was talking about the potential it had for various projects she wanted to do… so I have a new friend in Michigan!
These flower sculptures outside of Victoria, BC’s airport are cool! It was dark this morning, so I used the Shadows & Highlights feature in ACDSee Photo Manager to lighten the photo.
Sue, ACDSee’s Tech Writer gave me a ride to the airport. She’s the master behind all of ACDSee’ product resources! and a great friend of mine.
