Building community online is great. I’ve been doing it for awhile, but I have more experience with doing it in real life. For nine years I promoted public libraries & always enjoyed the aspects of outreach.
Early this week I was invited to talk about ACDSee software at the Winnipeg Camera Club. I met the person that invited me online. She has been an enthusiastic promoter of ACDSee software. And she’s one of those invaluable people who send me emails with improvements for the software.
We live not far from Canada, so it was a quick drive north. I thought you’d enjoy this photo of the rest stop just across the border. It pretty much describes our reality. We had 3 record lows this past winter. (really something to be proud of! If you follow me on Twitter you heard about those days).
Now they do keep their Manitoba letters clear of snow & the area 6′ in front of them was clear of snow.
The photo club is an amazing example of a vital community. They have over 100 active members & are the oldest photography club in Winnipeg at 75 years. They meet weekly all winter & take the summer off except for some field shooting trips.
These two gentleman were great! They teach photoshop to senior citizens. They were quite proud that they’ve taught 80 seniors.
There were 4 tables of vendors present. It was a fun night!
