Isn’t this a great representation of the social media landscape? Darren Barefoot created it based on a video where Robert Scoble explained it.
Wouldn’t it be a great diagram to explain the use of social media tools? and how they fit into marketing strategies?
How many of these are you using? Which ones should you be trying?
I’m using too darn many of those sites. Flickr, Typepad, Digg, StumbleUpon, Google, Twitter, YouTube, & LinkedIn. I’ve already deleted a Ning account that was just too annoying for words (know what I mean, “grasshopper”).
I forgot to mention all the Yahoo sub-sites including MASH, MyBlogLog, Vox, Eons, Bloglines, and a couple others I can’t think of right now. Of course, my definition of “social media” sites is pretty liberal.
So, Ian, maybe we should make a starfish of the most effective tools then in each space?
(and I never knew what your real name was?! are you still enjoying the LCD & the wii? ;) )
It’s true there are many. I just joined Xing today. But if we didn’t, who would? And would they do as good of a job?
I use a lot of those tools for my work. And I think that # will grow.
